Beginner

Do you want to just plug in the wifi system and be done quickly? Then choose a consumer-type of wifi system.

PROs

  • Low cost of hardware
  • Free software updates
  • Available at most retail stores
  • Almost no configuration required, turn on and start using.

CONs

  • Very little customization/features available
  • No central management of multiple wifi systems (Access Points)

Intermediate

Are you a little bit more technically inclined and don’t mind doing some initial configuration to get better wifi? Then choose a business-type of wifi system.

CONs

  • Requires a little bit of technical understanding to setup and maintain

Professional

Do you want/need full level of control over your wifi? Then choose an enterprise-type of wifi system.

Aruba, Cisco

  • Ease of central management of multiple wifi systems (Access Points)
  • Biggest amount of features

CONs

  • Most expensive to purchase hardware
  • Costs yearly licenses to get software license.
  • Not available at retail stores, but through distributors
